How Much is Too Much?

By Jesse L. Graham

How much is too much? So many people out there completely ignore the concept of being forgiven, simply because they believe that they have done too much, gone too far, and that they do not deserve forgiveness. To be perfectly honest, on the last part, I agree. I have done many things in my own past that I don’t deserve to be forgiven for. Nevertheless, God forgave me, simply because I truly regret the things I have done, deep in my heart, and I ...

Basic Training

Posted by JL Graham on Saturday, November 22, 2008,
In a moment of contemplation today, I stumbled upon a thought about the disciples that Jesus chose, They were an interesting bunch of fellows from a diverse walk in life. One aspect that none of them had, however, was youth. I got to wondering, why were there no teenage or child disciples? Then it occurred to me, Basic Training.

You see, life has hardships. I've gone through them, and continue to do so on occasion. Each of us do. I honestly believe that these hardships are basic training. Life...

A VOICE OF ONE

Posted by JL Graham on Wednesday, November 19, 2008,

John 1:23  He (John) said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, “Make straight the way of the Lord,” as said the prophet Esaias

The Voice of one, crying in the wilderness (The world.)

That’s what I want to be

To stand alone, to need not another, but the Holy Name.

It’s how I need to live, what I have to become

Cause my Jesus, this world is nothing like you

The faith IS almost gone, a mist in the sunlight

This place holds nothing for me anymore...

White Lies

Posted by JL Graham on Saturday, November 15, 2008,
What defines the "acceptable" lie? What if it were something that would effect no one. What if I were to say, "I caught a fish that was five pounds today," and it was a lie. Who would that hurt? It would effect no ones future, past, or relationships with one another, would it? Yes, it would effect one person, and that would be me.

On my next fishing trip with a buddy, he might bring it up, asking details about where and when I caught this fish. Then I would have to compound that lie with more ...

Who is RIGHT?

Posted by JL Graham on Thursday, November 13, 2008,
Two men were walking across a parking lot towards each other. One was dressed in a flannel shirt, the other in a shirt that said, "Jesus is my Rock." The flannel shirted man said to the other, "You're a Jesus Freak."

"Yes, aren't you," asked the Christian.

"Nope," the man said. "All that God stuff is just a waste of time."

"Is it, are you sure," the Christian asked.

"Of course I'm sure. What do you mean," the other man said.

"Well, if you're right and there is no God, then when I die I will die a ...

Abortion, yes or no?

Posted by JL Graham on Monday, November 10, 2008,

Somewhere out there in the cold world there is someone who made a mistake. She cannot take it back, and there is no easy way out. She is pregnant. Perhaps she is out of wedlock, or perhaps she is too young. Either way, the world offers her only one simple escape, and that is through abortion.

Before you go through with this, think about it. Inevitably, this child was not your decision. He/She was God's choice. Do you really want to tell God no? Remember you have to live with this. In my...

REVENGE!

Posted by JL Graham on Sunday, November 9, 2008,
What is it about the human race that makes us want an even trade? For good stuff, we want to trade good stuff, and that is all great. However, it seems to work the same way on the negative end of things. If someone hurts us, we want them to hurt at least as much as we do. We want revenge.

Recently, I entered into a business partnership with a fellow that lives in a nearby city. Throughout the entire partnership, I felt uneasy about it. After checking into it, I found that he had been ste...

Rough Roads Ahead

Posted by JL Graham on Sunday, November 9, 2008,
The past two years have been very difficult for my family. It started with my brother passing away. Then, I lost my business. Each hardship seemed to lead to another. Our house burnt down, my Mom passed away, my wifes' grandmother passed away, and lastly, my dog, Freckles, got hit by a car. We lost her too. Through it all, I fought that ever-familiar urge to scream out to God, "Why?" Freckles, though, was the straw that broke the camels back.

You see, through it all, Freckles was my anch...
